This 5 day camp subjected the boys to 10 hours a day of wrestling skills by National and World Champions. The team is lead by ,CIF Qualifier, Junior Will Hewes II and fellow Junior Michael Orosco. Other notable wrestlers are Seniors Alec Nuno, Francisco Ramirez, Jam Magtanong, Blake Rogers, Sebatian Valladares. Junior's who plan on making their mark are: Esteban Villegas and Frank Carmona.

REMEMBERING SERGIO ROMERO   The San Marcos High Wrestling team is mourning the death of fellow teammate Sergio Romero. Sergio passed away on Friday October 7th after being struck by a vehicle at a crosswalk in Santa Barbara. Sergio was a great kid and very dedicated to his music and his wrestling. Sergio was a good friend to many and an inspiration to others. Although this was his first year on the wrestling team, we could see that he was determined to make the most of it. Sergio was described by his teammates as always happy with a smile on his face. The team plans on recognizing Sergio Romero at its home opener in December. Currently,  Donations are now being accepted at Wells Fargo Bank under the Sergio Romero Memorial Fund.

Former Royals Wrestler and Football player Alex Mack is preparing for his third season with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Mack, who started all 16 games last year was named to the NFL's Pro Bowl last season. Mack's highlight of the season had to be the Touchdown he scored in the last minutes of the game. On the AFC's last possession, Alex Mack receives a lateral from a receiver and bulled his way down the field for a touchdown. AWESOME AND CONGRATULATIONS ALEX! Alex is 6'4" and is weighing in at 311lbs. Last Summer Alex came into the wrestling room and worked with some of the kids on switches, one of Alex's signature moves.

Former Royals wrestler Zach Belway had a great Sophomore year at Yale University where he earned a grant to study cultures from the rain forrest this summer. Zach also competed in the International Koei-Kan Karate-Do National Championships where he was part of Team California, the team won 1st Place in the full contact competition. Congratulation Zach, you make us proud!
